The journey of Daredevil: Born Again from script to screen saw numerous revisions, but surprisingly only one episode remained completely unchanged - Episode 5, which ironically happens to be star Charlie Cox's least favorite installment of the entire season.
"I don't know if this is interesting, but I'll share that among all our reshoots, there was one episode we kept exactly as originally filmed," Cox revealed during a recent conversation with The Playlist.
"It's the bank heist episode that we shot before the strikes. That version stayed completely intact - though personally, it wasn't my cup of tea."
Cox confessed he'd "argued against it as strongly as I reasonably could." The contentious episode finds Matt Murdock (Daredevil's civilian alter ego) trapped in a bank robbery while trying to secure financing for Nelson & Murdock, his law firm with partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"It felt like a scenario ripped from a 1970s crime drama," Cox admitted about his reservations. "Modern banking security makes this plot unlikely today, plus I didn't find the robbery method particularly believable."

Despite his personal misgivings, Cox graciously acknowledged the episode's unexpected popularity with viewers.
"I fought hard against keeping this episode, yet countless fans tell me it's their favorite. Goes to show how subjective storytelling can be," Cox reflected. "Taste varies wildly - and from what I hear internally, this became one of Disney+'s highest-rated episodes across their entire platform."
The critical reception backs this up. Our Daredevil: Born Again Episodes 5 and 6 Review praised it as: "Exceptionally crafted from start to finish. Rarely has a Marvel series delivered such pure, sustained enjoyment. Most crucially, this chapter demonstrates what makes Matt Murdock remarkable - heroism that transcends the costume."
