The Outer Worlds 2 is nearly upon us, promising to surpass its predecessor not only in scale but as a superior RPG in every aspect when it launches on October 29 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
We believe Obsidian's sci-fi sequel is one of this autumn's most underrated titles, likely due to initial turbulence after The Outer Worlds 2 was initially announced as Microsoft's first $80 game. Microsoft reversed this pricing decision just one month later, stating it would maintain the $69.99 price point to "align with current market expectations."
Our August preview of The Outer Worlds 2 left us thoroughly impressed, with our preview stating: "To put it plainly, I'm genuinely excited about Obsidian's vision for The Outer Worlds 2. While I enjoyed their initial exploration of this universe, it never completely captured my heart. However, what the development team has accomplished in this prologue is precisely what I had hoped for from the original game. That's exactly why I'm confident The Outer Worlds 2 will join the ranks of those exceptional sequels—the ones that fully realize their concept and achieve true greatness."
The official launch date for The Outer Worlds 2 is October 29, though players who purchase the $99.99 Premium Edition gain early access starting October 23-24 (depending on your timezone). Xbox Game Pass subscribers can also play early by maintaining an active subscription and upgrading to the premium edition for $29.99. Pre-loading is currently available.
