Xbox Game Pass Gains With Indiana Jones, Call of Duty

by Eric Nov 02,2025

During Microsoft's Q2 investor call, CEO Satya Nadella announced that Indiana Jones and The Great Circle has attracted 4 million players to date.

While Xbox's gaming division delivered a generally lukewarm earnings report, MachineGames' latest release stands out as a success story - earning critical praise, multiple awards, and now substantial player engagement. Though exact sales figures remain unclear due to its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass, reaching 4 million players marks an impressive achievement for what many considered a gamble on reviving the Indiana Jones franchise in AAA gaming.

Our review praised the title as "an irresistible and immersive global treasure hunt," with nominations for both Game of the Year and Best Xbox Game. Read our full review here.

Microsoft also reported significant growth in other Xbox sectors, with Game Pass PC subscriptions increasing 30% last quarter and setting a new revenue record. Cloud gaming saw 140 million streaming hours logged. These gains contributed to a 2% increase in Xbox content and service revenue.

However, challenges remain. Despite Game Pass outperforming expectations, overall gaming revenue declined 7%, while Xbox hardware sales dropped 29%.

The bigger picture reveals Microsoft continues struggling in the console hardware market while seeing returns on its Game Pass investments. The PC Game Pass growth aligns with last quarter's strong lineup - including Indiana Jones alongside tentpole releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Microsoft Flight Simulator - all available to Game Pass Ultimate members at launch.
