Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Several Heroes
Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings (particularly 30 FPS) can breathe a sigh of relief. The developers have acknowledged a bug impacting damage calculations for certain heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine, when the game runs at lower frame rates.
This issue, affecting heroes like Magik, Star-Lord, and Venom as well, stems from the game's client-side prediction mechanism. This mechanism, while typically used to minimize lag, appears to be the root cause of the inconsistent damage dealt at lower FPS. The effect is more pronounced against stationary targets, making it harder to identify in dynamic gameplay.
While a precise fix date isn't available, the development team is actively working on a solution. A community manager's post on the official Discord server confirmed the problem and offered reassurance. The anticipated Season 1 launch on January 11th is expected to include a fix, or at least a significant improvement, to the damage calculation issue. If the Season 1 update doesn't fully resolve the problem, further patches are planned.
Despite early concerns regarding hero balance, Marvel Rivals, launched in early December 2025, has been remarkably well-received, boasting an 80% approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews. The ongoing efforts to address the FPS-related damage bug further solidify the developers' commitment to providing a positive player experience.
