Concord: Post-Launch Roadmap and Gameplay Tips Unveiled
Sony and Firewalk Studios have detailed Concord's post-launch content roadmap, emphasizing a focus on regular updates without a traditional battle pass system. The game launches August 23rd on PS5 and PC.
No Battle Pass, Meaningful Rewards
Unlike many hero shooters, Concord will not feature a battle pass. Instead, the developers aim to provide a rewarding experience through gameplay progression, character leveling, and completing objectives. Rewards will be earned organically, focusing on a robust base game experience.
Season 1: The Tempest (October 2024)
The first major update, "The Tempest," arrives in October, bringing a new playable Freegunner, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, and new cosmetic items. Weekly cinematic vignettes will also expand the game's narrative. An in-game store, offering purely cosmetic items with no gameplay impact, will also launch with Season 1.
Beyond Season 1
Season 2 is planned for January 2025, with Firewalk Studios committed to consistent seasonal content throughout Concord's first year.
Gameplay Strategies and Crew Builder
Game director Ryan Ellis shared insights into optimal gameplay, highlighting the "Crew Builder" system. Players build teams of five unique Freegunners, allowing up to three copies of any variant. This system encourages diverse team compositions for strategic advantages. While Freegunners prioritize high DPS, six distinct roles (Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden) offer unique battlefield impacts, such as area control and flanking. Combining different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, enhancing mobility, weapon handling, and cooldowns. This differs from traditional archetypes like Tank or Support.
