Ever played Phantom Rose Scarlet, the roguelike card adventure game? Well, it’s sequel is here. It’s called Phantom Rose 2 Sapphire. If you’ve played the prequel, you have an idea about the game. And if you haven’t played it yet, let me give you a quick overview of the new one.
Created by Studio Maka, Phantom Rose Sapphire launched on Steam back in October 2023. Just like Scarlet, it blends roguelike strategy with a dark, mysterious atmosphere. Sapphire stands out as a strong follow-up to the original, featuring several exciting new additions.
Here’s What Phantom Rose 2 Sapphire Is About
You take on the role of Aria, a young girl fighting her way through her cherished school, now overrun by terrifying, otherworldly creatures. The concept of a school under attack by malevolent phantoms gives the game a deeply haunting, almost gothic tone.
The game introduces a fresh way to build your deck. There’s no random card draw during battle. Instead, you must carefully manage your card cooldowns—master this system, and you’ll dominate the phantoms with precision and power.
Phantom Rose 2 Sapphire ramps up in difficulty as you progress. There’s also an Arcade mode, where you can race through bosses to earn rewards. A Custom mode lets you design your own challenges and test your skills.
The most standout new feature not found in Scarlet is the class system. Phantom Rose 2 Sapphire now offers two playable classes: Blade and Mage. The Blade class gives you greater flexibility in combat. Meanwhile, the Mage class adds depth with its Arcana gauge, which determines your available actions.
