Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition is to become a leading force in the gaming industry. Inspired by Naughty Dog, particularly their Uncharted series, Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley stated their goal is to be "the European equivalent of that iconic studio."

Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, detailed how this influence shaped Quantum Break and, subsequently, Alan Wake 2. He explicitly stated their aspiration to be "the European version of Naughty Dog."

This inspiration is clearly seen in Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, praised for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative. The game's success firmly established Remedy as a top European studio.

Remedy's aspirations extend beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's mastery of cinematic single-player experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and The Last of Us (the latter being one of gaming's most decorated franchises), serves as a benchmark.

Even over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates enhancing gameplay across all platforms. These improvements include significant optimizations for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics mode that combines the best aspects of the Performance and Quality modes.

These updates also refined graphical settings to ensure a smoother framerate and clearer visuals, alongside fixing minor bugs impacting gameplay, particularly within the Lake House expansion.
