In Monster Hunter Wilds, Every Weapon Has Its Own Unique Design - IGN First

by Alexis Feb 26,2025

Concerns about weapon design similarity in Monster Hunter Rise (Wilds is likely a typo) have been addressed by Director Yuya Tokuda. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, where weapon appearances were largely determined by monster materials, Monster Hunter Rise features uniquely designed weapons.

Tokuda stated that while Monster Hunter: World weapons retained a base form with cosmetic variations, Monster Hunter Rise weapons boast individual designs. This directly counters concerns about repetitive weapon aesthetics. While some Monster Hunter: World weapons became unique through upgrades, many remained visually similar. The image below illustrates this, showcasing the similarity between the final Aqua and Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final Bone and Jyuratodus Long Swords. These were the most upgraded versions at launch.

In contrast, the Monster Hunter Rise weapons shown below demonstrate distinct and unique designs.
