Originally launched in 2001, Devil May Cry was initially conceived as Resident Evil 4. However, the project evolved significantly, leading Capcom to birth the Devil May Cry series instead.

Reflecting on the game's origins nearly 25 years later, Kamiya shared a personal anecdote. He revealed that the game's creation was fueled by his emotional response to a breakup in 2000, which left him in a state of depression. This intense personal experience became the driving force behind Devil May Cry.

Kamiya admits he rarely revisits his past works, including Devil May Cry. Yet, occasional glimpses of gameplay remind him of the game's age and its original design from 24 years ago. Should he undertake a remake, Kamiya insists on building it from the ground up, leveraging contemporary technology and game design methodologies.

Currently, Kamiya isn't actively pondering the project, as he only fleshes out ideas when a project is on the horizon. However, he's confident in his creative process, stating, "But if the time comes— I’ll come up with something. That’s what I do."

In addition to Devil May Cry, Kamiya has shown interest in remaking Viewtiful Joe. These announcements have sparked excitement among fans, who eagerly anticipate the potential return of these beloved titles in a modernized form.
