CDPR acknowledged weak gameplay in The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.

In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay, specifically highlighting combat and monster hunting as areas demanding significant upgrades. He stated, "We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience."

Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should showcase the impactful and powerful nature of monster encounters, focusing on improved fight choreography and emotional weight.

Expect a substantial combat overhaul in The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recognizes the need for improvements over previous Witcher titles, improvements likely to carry over into future installments featuring Ciri as the protagonist of the new trilogy.

Interestingly, the developers also plan to include Triss's wedding. In Witcher 3, the "Ashen Marriage" quest, originally intended for Novigrad, saw Geralt assisting with wedding preparations, including monster removal, acquiring alcohol, and choosing a gift. This storyline reflects Triss's developing feelings for Castello and her wish for a swift marriage.
