Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage for its eagerly anticipated action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to release in 2026. The highlight of the reveal is the confirmation that the legendary Japanese swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi, will lead the charge in this thrilling new installment.
During the PlayStation State of Play event, Capcom presented a captivating trailer that showcased the sword-based action gameplay and formidable enemies that players can expect. Although the game is still a couple of years away, the visuals and mechanics already promise an immersive experience.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature Miyamoto Musashi, a historical figure renowned for his mastery of the blade. The trailer not only demonstrated his exceptional sword skills but also highlighted his roguish and comedic personality, adding depth to his character. Capcom has meticulously modeled Musashi's face after the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
According to Capcom's press release, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is described as a dark fantasy action game set in Kyoto, a city now under the control of an evil force called Malic. This malevolent entity is summoning hellish beings into Japan, setting the stage for an epic battle. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades, and to build anticipation, Capcom has also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, set for release on May 23, 2025.
