Elden Ring is making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 as the Tarnished Edition, bringing with it fresh enhancements such as new character classes and fresh looks for Torrent.
According to Famitsu, an event titled “FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025” took place in Tokyo on May 6, unveiling new details about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition—including two new character classes.
The two new classes, as translated by RPG Site, are the “Knight of Ides” and the “Heavy Armored Knight.” Beyond their names and visual designs, few specifics have been shared yet. These two sets are among the four new armors coming with the Tarnished Edition, with the remaining two obtainable in-game. Additional new weapons and skills were also hinted at.
For fans of Torrent, the spirit steed will receive three new visual variants. While this content is included in Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition—which also features the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion—FromSoftware confirmed that these additions will also reach other platforms through the Tarnished Pack DLC. As reported by RPG Site, FromSoftware stated the DLC will be offered at an affordable price.Introducing new classes is a thoughtful addition, especially since many players on Switch 2 will begin fresh campaigns and may appreciate the chance to explore different builds. Offering new content upfront could entice those who’ve already spent countless hours in the Lands Between on other systems.
Elden Ring has already reached a massive audience, having officially surpassed 30 million copies sold worldwide—a monumental milestone, and one likely to grow further with its Switch 2 release.
No official release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, though both are expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
