The new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller offers a significant upgrade in charging speed, taking almost half the time of the original model. As highlighted by Nintendo Life, the recently unveiled tech specs reveal that the $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller can be fully charged in about three-and-a-half hours when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or a USB-C charging cable. This is a substantial improvement over the original Pro Controller's six-hour charge time.
Despite the faster charging, the Switch 2 Pro Controller retains an impressive 40-hour battery life, matching the longevity of its predecessor. The new model also features an innovative C button, two additional GL/GR buttons on the underside, and a design that's slightly lighter and smaller than the original.

For those who prefer to stick with their original controller, rest assured that Nintendo has confirmed the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo officially introduced the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Initially, pre-orders were scheduled to open in early April in the U.S., but due to tariff-related uncertainties, the pre-order date was delayed to April 24. During this delay, Nintendo maintained the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games, though they raised prices on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
