Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel
Square Enix marked NieR's 15th anniversary with a flurry of announcements, showcasing upcoming events and projects. During the livestream on April 19, they introduced NieR's online Special Novel, titled [U]ndecided Option.
This novel will feature three updates, with the first already accessible. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's brief synopsis teases, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
In addition, Square Enix launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the online special novel and other related projects and events planned for the anniversary celebration.
Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Further details regarding tickets and other specifics will be announced soon.
The NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 will also expand with additional performances in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and in Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets for these events are currently available through a lottery system, with more information accessible on the concert's official website.
A range of new merchandise has been unveiled, including an album featuring newly recorded studio jazz arrangements from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for release in December 2024. Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a developer blog series, with monthly updates planned through the end of the year. These updates will delve into the creative process behind Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The sudden announcement of a developer blog for a now-closed game has left fans curious, with some speculating about a potential sequel or remake. However, no official announcements have been made regarding future projects.
