Zelda Speedrunner Stuns Crowd at Nintendo Switch 2 Event

by Mia Aug 09,2025

A The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild speedrunner triumphed in the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the acclaimed RPG at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience in Japan, limited to a 10-minute playtime.

As noted by VGC, Japanese content creator Ikaboze tackled the challenge with an unfamiliar save file, unaware of Link’s available gear. Opting to "face the final boss completely unequipped and without armor," Ikaboze loaded a save that led straight to the Ganon showdown. In just seven minutes, Ganon was defeated, prompting spontaneous cheers from the audience.

The feat was remarkable, as Ikaboze navigated with an unfamiliar controller amid the convention hall’s noise, making it impossible to hear the game.

“I was amazed by the crowd that gathered,” he shared. “Even staff were recording on their phones. I was the first to complete the Breath of the Wild demo, and they congratulated me warmly.”

Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts upgraded graphics and smoother performance, new achievements, and integration with the "Zelda Notes" feature in the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version won’t receive these updates automatically but can buy an "upgrade pack" for $10. Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers get access to upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom at no additional cost.
