Following the exciting launch of Quidditch Champions this week, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a sequel to last year's blockbuster Harry Potter-based action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, which became the best-selling game of 2023.

Expected in a “Couple Years Down the Road”
Warner Bros. Discovery has excitedly confirmed its plans to develop a sequel to the critically acclaimed action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. The original game, released last year, has sold over 24 million copies, making it the best-selling game of 2023. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels shared the company's strategic outlook.
"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," Wiedenfels stated. "So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."
David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Games, highlighted the game's impressive replayability in an earlier interview with Variety. "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once," Haddad noted. He emphasized that the game's success isn't just about sales figures and replayability; it's about bringing the magical world of Harry Potter to life in a unique way. "It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story," Haddad said, explaining why the game resonated so well with the community and propelled Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the charts.
Haddad proudly added, "That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks."
