Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has encountered yet another delay, pushing its release date to October 2025. This latest postponement, though smaller compared to previous delays, was announced in a recent game update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room. The new release window is a few months later than the previously planned first half of 2025, but it comes with the assurance that the game is now complete.
“The status of the game right now is that the game is done,” stated Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Executive Producer Marco Behrmann. “We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases.”
While this latest delay adds to the long list of setbacks fans have faced over the years, the update video also brings some positive news. The Chinese Room has added more content, enhanced narrative depth, and improved character development since the last major update. They've also promised that Fabien will have an "evolved role" in the storyline at launch. However, the frequency of updates will decrease, as announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 X/Twitter page.
Even those only casually following the game are aware of the numerous challenges Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has faced over the past decade. Initially revealed in 2019 by developer Hardsuit Labs with a planned launch in Q1 2020, the game saw its first delay to late 2020. Subsequent delays pushed the release to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. The development took a significant turn in 2023 when Hardsuit was replaced by The Chinese Room, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after one more delay, fans are set to finally experience Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 in October 2025.
With the game's release date now set for this fall, it remains to be seen if Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the sequel to the 2004 cult-classic, will successfully captivate players. The Chinese Room seems confident in their current progress. Meanwhile, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 achieve a successful launch, a different developer will take on the challenge of creating Bloodlines 3.
