For fans of the No Return mode, exciting updates are on the way with the introduction of two new characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene. Bill, adopting a "Smuggler" playstyle, can utilize a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and benefits from double rewards from drops, although he is unable to dodge and is more resistant to melee attacks. Marlene, on the other hand, embodies a "Risk Taker" approach with a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, and the ability to reroute her No Return path once per run.

Additionally, No Return mode will expand with four new maps:

  • Overlook: Set high above Seattle, offering vertical gameplay and reminiscent of a Seraphites encounter.
  • School: An abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina faced the W.L.F. in the campaign.
  • Streets: Located in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood of Seattle.
  • Nest: Familiar to players who played as Abby, set in an Infected-infested building.

All the new No Return content, along with new Trophies and bug fixes, will be available on PS5 on the same day as the PC launch through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch.

In line with Sony's recent adjustments to PlayStation Network requirements, The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC features an optional PSN log-in. Players who choose to sign in will enjoy benefits like the PlayStation overlay, PSN Trophies, and 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features. Additionally, they can access a new skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun's jacket from Naughty Dog's upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

PS5 players can also unlock this unique jacket skin through the 2.0 patch using in-game bonus points.

In related news, Neil Druckmann, director of The Last of Us, recently discussed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which has been in development for four years. The game, set in an alternate historical timeline, focuses on themes of faith and religion and stars Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun.

The PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered arrives just ahead of Season 2 of HBO's successful TV adaptation, where showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin have confirmed the return of spores, omitted in the first season.
