Sony PlayStation State of Play Scheduled for Next Week

by Eleanor Apr 27,2025

Sony is reportedly gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated February PlayStation State of Play broadcast next week. According to reliable leaker NateTheHate, who previously accurately predicted the date for Nintendo’s Switch 2 reveal, the event is slated for Valentine's Day week, specifically between February 10 and 14.

As speculation swirls, let's dive into what Sony might have in store for this year's State of Play. A review of Sony's announced first-party titles slated for 2025 could offer some clues. For instance, Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei, which is set to launch in 2025, might showcase new gameplay footage and a concrete release date.

Bungie's PvP extraction shooter, Marathon, could also make an appearance, especially if playtesting is on the horizon for this year. Haven Studios' debut game, Fairgames, is another potential candidate. Naughty Dog's newly announced IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are also in the mix. A fresh trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is due in 2025, seems likely as well.

However, don't expect to see Sony's recently canceled live service games at the event. Last month, Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced live-service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, the latter being a live-service take on God of War. While Bend Studio's project remains a mystery, Guerrilla Games' live service Horizon game reportedly dodged the axe. Could this be the moment for its big reveal?

Which PlayStation Game Are You Most Looking Forward to Seeing at Sony's Next State of Play?

  • Ghost of Yotei
  • Marathon
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
  • Marvel's Wolverine
  • Fairgames
  • Horizon multiplayer live service project
  • Physint
  • Phantom Blade Zero

Moving on to potential third-party announcements, Hideo Kojima's upcoming stealth-action PlayStation exclusive, Physint, might be a bit premature for a showcase, but the flashy hack-and-slash action RPG Phantom Blade Zero from Chinese studio S-Game seems like a more probable inclusion.

With Microsoft now a significant publisher on PlayStation platforms, there's a chance we could see a release date announcement for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5. Additionally, could Microsoft seize the opportunity to finally announce Halo's arrival on PlayStation?

To predict what's to come, it's useful to reflect on past State of Play events. Last year's showcase included titles like Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, the Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Ken Levine’s Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2.
