Amazon still has some retired LEGO sets available for purchase. One such gem is the super detailed to-scale R2-D2 set, which was retired in January 2025, but you can still snag it for $221.27 (8% off). The collaboration between Star Wars and LEGO dates back to 1999, offering everything from kid-friendly playsets to elaborate display models. This R2-D2 set is a prime example of the latter, boasting an impressive level of detail and size, making it a must-have for any Star Wars enthusiast.
Although this R2-D2 set was recently discounted during Star Wars Day celebrations, we expect it to return to its full MSRP soon.

This 2,315-piece set is the most detailed R2-D2 LEGO has ever produced. IGN had the privilege of assembling this set upon its release and found the experience incredibly rewarding. Standing over a foot tall, this R2-D2 can be posed in various ways, with all the iconic features from the films meticulously replicated. The retractable third leg, openable front hatches, and extendable periscope are all present, showcasing LEGO's commitment to accuracy. Every color, wire, tube, and light on R2's body is designed to match the screen as closely as possible. If you manage to secure this set before it's gone, it will complement some of the best LEGO Star Wars sets to build in 2025 beautifully.
R2-D2's most recent on-screen appearance was in 2021 in "The Book of Boba Fett" episode 6, titled "From the Desert Comes a Stranger." This episode is notable for featuring a CGI de-aged Luke Skywalker, the live-action debut and farewell of bounty hunter Cad Bane, and of course, our beloved blue and white astromech droid. We rated this episode a seven, noting that it focused more on "The Mandalorian" and nostalgic Star Wars elements than on its titular protagonist.
