People Can Fly, renowned for their work on Bulletstorm and as co-developers of Gears of War: E-Day, have recently inked a deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring a new game to life, known internally as Project Delta. This arrangement is characterized as a work-for-hire project, though specifics remain under wraps according to a report from People Can Fly.
The studio is bustling with activity, juggling multiple projects with intriguing codenames. Among them is Project Gemini, developed in collaboration with Square Enix, which faced a setback last year with the layoff of 30 developers. Another project, Project Echo, is being crafted with Krafton, while Project Red also appears to be in partnership with Sony. Adding to the diversity of their portfolio, People Can Fly recently announced that Project Bison, their venture into VR, would be their final project in that space.
The company has also had to make tough decisions recently. Last December, they paused development on Project Victoria and scaled back on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they canceled Project Dagger, an action-adventure game that was being developed in partnership with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these adjustments, People Can Fly remains highly active, with a total of eight known projects in the pipeline. This includes the eagerly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in collaboration with The Coalition, though a release date has yet to be announced. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, their project with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
