During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo announced that nearly the entire Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. Excitingly, several popular titles are set to receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, featuring unique upgrades. The showcased games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.
Each game's "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" comes with tailored enhancements. For instance, Super Mario Party: Jamboree introduces "Jamboree TV," which includes mouse controls, audio recognition, "more expressive rumble," and gameplay integrated with a new camera accessory.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are set to benefit from enhanced resolution, higher framerates, and HDR support. Additionally, a new service on the Nintendo Switch Online app called Zelda Notes will offer voice guidance for locating Shrines and Koroks, and the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.Kirby and the Forgotten Land will feature a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, titled Star-Crossed World, along with improved graphics and framerates.
Two upcoming titles, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, will also receive enhanced versions. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls and offer 4K resolution at 60fps with HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will boast improved resolution and framerates.
These upgraded games will be available in both physical and digital formats. Additionally, upgrade packs will be available for purchase for some titles (Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby), allowing existing Switch owners to enhance their games for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Later in the presentation, several third-party games were revealed to receive Nintendo Switch 2 Editions, including Civilization 7 with mouse support and Street Fighter 6 with exclusive game modes.
The concept of "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" games was hinted at last week through a footnote on a webpage about the new Virtual Game Card system, which noted that these games could not be transferred to the original Nintendo Switch.
