"Monster Hunter Wilds: Captured Monsters Escape Stage Left"

by Noah Apr 03,2025

Most people associate Monster Hunter with the thrill of the hunt, but capturing monsters is equally crucial. In Monster Hunter Wilds, players have stumbled upon a humorous interaction that occurs after capturing a monster and lingering nearby.

As shared by Reddit user RDGtheGreat on the r/MonsterHunter subreddit, staying near a captured monster allows you to witness a bit of behind-the-scenes magic. After capturing a Nu Udra and waiting, the giant cephalopod simply gets up and leaves, much like actors departing a film set once the scene is done. This amusing scene has led to lighthearted comparisons to movie-making.

In terms of in-universe explanations, it appears that the research team in Monster Hunter Wilds adopts a catch-and-release approach rather than keeping monsters in cages. This method aligns well with the ethos of Alma and the team throughout the game's narrative.

Regardless of the lore behind it, this interaction adds a delightful touch to the game. It's impressive that Capcom's developers considered this scenario and crafted a special animation, rather than simply fading out the scene. The sight of a monster, now missing several limbs, scurrying off into the distance is indeed quirky but adds a layer of depth to the research practices of Alma and her crew.
