When it comes to iconic female fighting game characters, three names instantly spring to mind: Nina Williams, Chun-Li, and Mai Shiranui. Although fans have seen Nina and Chun-Li clash in Street Fighter x Tekken, their interactions won't be featured in upcoming releases. However, this isn't the case for Mai Shiranui, who is set to join Street Fighter 6 as a new guest character. It seems far from coincidental that the developers chose to pit Mai against the legendary Chun-Li in her gameplay trailer, sparking excitement among fans.
Mai's gameplay trailer showcases several of her signature moves, and her super move is nothing short of spectacular. It's clear that Mai is poised to become a fan favorite in Street Fighter 6. Unfortunately, eager players will need to wait a bit longer, as Capcom has scheduled Mai's release for February 5, rather than January.
This means a three-week wait lies ahead. In the meantime, fans hope that the Street Fighter 6 team will keep the excitement alive with additional content to tide us over until Mai's debut.
