Hasbro has revealed plans to expand Magic: The Gathering into a multimedia universe, partnering with Legendary Entertainment to produce a series of movies and TV shows. The initial focus will be on a feature film, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Legendary Entertainment, known for hits like Dune and the MonsterVerse films such as Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as Detective Pikachu, is excited about the project. “We pride ourselves on being thoughtful caretakers of singular, beloved IP, and no property better fits that description than Magic: The Gathering,” stated Legendary’s chairman of worldwide production.

It remains uncertain whether this new cinematic universe will connect with the previously announced Magic: The Gathering animated series set for Netflix. It's possible that the animated series might now be integrated into this broader shared universe.

Magic: The Gathering, a trading card game launched by Wizards of the Coast in 1993, has grown into one of the world's most popular card games. Wizards of the Coast became a part of Hasbro in 1999.

Hasbro has a track record of turning its properties into movies, including franchises like G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Dungeons and Dragons. The company is currently developing several other films, such as new G.I. Joe movies, a Power Rangers film, and a Beyblade movie.
