Konami Launches Suikoden STAR LEAP Mobile RPG

Suikoden returns in a new form. Konami and MYTHRIL have revealed Suikoden STAR LEAP, a free-to-play mobile RPG for Android and iOS. No release date has been confirmed, but it’s expected to launch later this year.

For the uninitiated, Suikoden debuted in 1995 as an RPG series from Konami, crafted by Yoshitaka Murayama. Inspired by the Chinese novel Water Margin, it’s known as Suikoden in Japan.

The franchise delivers a rich world of political drama, True Runes, and the iconic 108 Stars of Destiny. With 11 titles, including spin-offs, the last release was in 2012. Now, Konami introduces Suikoden STAR LEAP, a mobile game, rather than a full series revival.

What to Expect

Suikoden STAR LEAP brings a fresh cast while upholding the tradition of recruiting 108 heroes. Its pixel art style preserves the classic Suikoden vibe. Watch the teaser below.

The narrative centers on the Rune of Change, one of 27 True Runes that shaped the world. The story follows Hou, a village chief’s son, who celebrates his first successful hunt before his village is attacked, upending his life.

Hou embarks on a quest with Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur to restore peace. Hisui, his servant, hides a mysterious emotional restraint; Shirin, his childhood friend, burns with a sense of justice; and Shapur, a former general, now serves as a butler.

Not all fans are thrilled, as many hoped for a true series continuation rather than a gacha-style mobile game like STAR LEAP.

More details will emerge upon release. For now, visit the official website for updates.
