Keanu Reeves has provided the most exciting update yet on the long-awaited sequel to the 2005 cult classic, *Constantine*. As John Constantine, the occult detective and exorcist from DC Comics, Reeves captivated audiences with his portrayal, sparking a fervent demand for a follow-up over the past two decades. Now, it appears that *Constantine 2* is closer to becoming a reality than ever before.
Reeves recently shared with Inverse that after years of trying to bring the sequel to life, he and his team have successfully pitched a story to DC Studios. "We've been trying to make this film for over a decade, and we just recently put a story together and pitched it to DC Studios and they said, ‘Okay,’" Reeves stated. "So, we're going to try and write a script."
While this is a promising development, it's important to note that the project is not yet guaranteed. DC Studios co-chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have not officially confirmed *Constantine 2* as part of the rebooted DCU, leaving its fate somewhat uncertain. However, Reeves did tease that if the film does get made, it will be set in "the same world" as the original, with John Constantine facing even more torment.
Adding to the anticipation, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed to ComicBook that a script for *Constantine 2* is already in his inbox. Yet, his eagerness is tempered with fear, as he admitted, "I'm too scared to read it, though, I want it to be good so bad. I’ll probably read it in the next few days, when I get on an airplane."
