Jason Momoa Teases Lobo’s Debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow: 'We Look Pretty Dead On'

by Caleb Mar 31,2025

Jason Momoa, known for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the 2026 DC Universe (DCU) movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter with superhuman strength and immortality, hails from the planet Czarnia, making him the last survivor of his world, much like Superman. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983.

Momoa, who has long expressed his admiration for Lobo, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and the character, shared his excitement about the role with ScreenRant. He mentioned that Lobo is his favorite comic book character and hinted at a faithful adaptation, stating, "we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character." He also teased Lobo's rough and gruff nature and a cool bike, but remained tight-lipped about specifics to avoid spoilers.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

While Lobo will appear in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Momoa clarified that his screen time will be limited, saying, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit." This suggests that while fans will get a taste of Lobo, the focus will remain on Supergirl, portrayed by Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon.

In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first image of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, announcing the start of production. The movie is heavily inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. The story follows an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is slated for release in June 2026, following James Gunn's Superman movie, which hits theaters in the summer of 2025. The DCU's Clayface movie is scheduled for September 2026, marking an exciting lineup for DC fans.
