InZOI Ditches Explicit Sex Scenes

The lead developers of the highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI, recently engaged with fans to clarify some intriguing aspects of gameplay, particularly around the sensitive topic of sexual intercourse. When queried about this, the assistant director provided a response that was intentionally vague, avoiding direct references to "sex." The essence of the answer suggested that if two ZOIs—a male and a female—retire to a bed together, it implies an intention to procreate, but the visual depiction of this action is left to the player's imagination.

Perhaps that’s exactly what’s happening, but not at the level everyone expected.

This has left players uncertain about whether inZOI will handle the topic of sex with similar censorship as seen in The Sims series or if it will introduce a novel approach.

Moreover, the developers shed light on another aspect of the game: why ZOIs shower in towels rather than using pixelated censorship. They explained that pixelation tends to work better in games with a more cartoonish aesthetic, but in a game striving for realism like inZOI, such censorship can appear overly sexualized. Additionally, they disclosed a technical issue: when a naked ZOI with pixelated censorship approached a mirror, the censorship failed to reflect properly, leading to the decision to use towels instead.

For those seeking more clarity, the game's rating provides some insight. inZOI has been rated ESRB - T (for teens) and is expected to receive a PEGI 12 rating, aligning it with The Sims 4 in terms of content appropriateness. These ratings suggest a balanced approach to mature themes, catering to a teenage audience while maintaining a level of realism and subtlety in sensitive depictions.
