George R.R. Martin recently delighted fans with an update from his blog, but it wasn't about the long-awaited *The Winds of Winter*. Instead, he unveiled the cover for the next illustrated edition in the *A Song of Ice and Fire* series: *A Feast for Crows*. This marks the fourth book in the series to receive such a special treatment, featuring stunning artwork by Jeffrey R. McDonald.
Scheduled for release on November 4, 2025, *A Feast for Crows: The Illustrated Edition* is now available for preorder at major retailers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target. This update is particularly exciting for collectors of the illustrated editions, as it's been five years since the release of the last one, *A Storm of Swords*, in November 2020.

While the lack of progress on *The Winds of Winter* is disappointing after nearly 14 years, there remains hope that the series might be completed by someone else. With the fourth illustrated edition now on the horizon, it seems likely that the first five special editions will be completed before *The Winds of Winter* sees the light of day.
