Navigating the expansive, synthwave-inspired Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be daunting, but the Hoverboard transforms your journey from a slog into an exhilarating adventure. Right from the start, you have access to this fantastic tool, which not only speeds up your travel but also enhances your gameplay experience.
The Hoverboard in Hyper Light Breaker is more than just a mode of transportation; it's an integral part of the sprint mechanic, allowing you to cover vast distances quickly while your Energy depletes slowly. This guide will walk you through how to summon and ride your Hoverboard, as well as highlight some of its key features that make it indispensable for exploring the Overgrowth efficiently.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To get your Hoverboard up and running, all you need to do is hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you keep the Dodge button pressed.
Steering the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick in any direction, you'll lean the board and turn accordingly. The speed at which you're traveling affects how quickly you can turn; at top speed, turns are more gradual, while at slower speeds, you have better control.
To dismount from the Hoverboard, simply release the Dodge input. Keep an eye on your Energy, which is displayed next to your Breaker's companion while you're on the board (or using the Glider). If your Energy runs out, the Hoverboard will automatically dismount you. Take a moment to hop off and let your Energy replenish if it's getting low to avoid an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While you can't perform tricks or attack while on the Hoverboard, it offers several unique advantages. One standout feature is its ability to float on water, allowing you to traverse rivers and inlets without interruption. Remember, you must be on the Hoverboard before entering the water; you can't summon it while submerged. No matter your entry speed or jump height, the Hoverboard will keep you afloat and moving smoothly across the surface.
Additionally, you can hold down the default Jump input while on the Hoverboard to duck and prepare for a jump. Although you can't double-jump on the board, the added speed can help you leap across wider gaps than usual. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it's perfect for timing those tricky jumps with precision.
