HBO has revealed the principal cast for its highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series, introducing fresh faces to play the iconic trio: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod released a joint statement: "Following an extensive casting search led by Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we're thrilled to present these remarkable young actors who will bring the beloved characters to life."

"These three talented performers possess exceptional chemistry, and we're excited for audiences to experience their onscreen magic. We sincerely appreciate all the aspiring actors who auditioned - discovering such incredible young talent has been truly rewarding."

Earlier this year, HBO announced six cast members portraying Hogwarts faculty, including John Lithgow confirming his role as Albus Dumbledore after previously hinting at the casting.

Alongside Lithgow, the series features notable British actors in key roles: Nick Frost as the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid and Paapa Essiedu taking on the complex role of Severus Snape. The faculty lineup includes Janet McTeer as stern but caring Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon as the nervous Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse capturing the cantankerous Argus Filch.

Lithgow previously shared his thoughtful approach to accepting the career-defining role: "Though I was initially hesitant about taking on such an iconic character at this stage of my career, the creative team's vision convinced me. I'm honored to help reintroduce these magical stories to new generations."
