The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've broken down all the secrets and details for you. However, fans will need to hold on until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason's adventures. While we wait, let's reminisce about the incredible journey through Rockstar's catalog of games and rank them for some fun reflection.
Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, giving us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which one stands out as the best? Note that we're focusing strictly on games developed by Rockstar, excluding titles like LA Noire or Max Payne 2 that they've published. I've ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list below:
Red Dead Redemption 2 tops my list as the ultimate S-tier game, a title I consider my all-time favorite. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5—both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a special fondness for Max Payne 3 with its mesmerizing bullet time mechanics, and GTA San Andreas, which I played far too young. At the other end of the spectrum, in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, which are largely forgotten and unloved.
Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you believe Vice City outshines GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community's choices.
