In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller announced that Gunzilla Games, the creative force behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid and the blockchain ecosystem GunZ, has acquired the rights to Game Informer from GameStop. The goal? To bring back not just the editorial team, but the full production crew and beyond.
Notably, Gunzilla Games is also known for its Early Access game Off the Grid and the innovative GunZ platform. Adding to their star power, the team includes District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp as their Chief Creative Officer and co-founder.

Miller emphasized that Gunzilla Games is committed to maintaining Game Informer as an independent editorial outlet, ensuring that the team retains full control over content and coverage decisions. This commitment is reflected in the formation of Game Informer Inc., which now oversees the over 30-year legacy of the site, seamlessly picking up where they left off in August of last year. To bridge any gaps, the team has prepared "dozens" of new reviews from games released during their hiatus and their Best of 2024 awards.
Excitingly, the beloved print magazine is set to return, albeit at a later date, with plans to make it "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer will introduce new membership and subscription benefits, expanding their video, streaming, and feature coverage, and broadening their range of experts and partnerships to bring fresh perspectives to their audience.
