Dune: Awakening Opens Character Creation Early
Set for Release on May 20th
After a stunning reveal trailer, Dune: Awakening is scheduled to launch on May 20th, 2025, for PC via Steam, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow later. Developer Funcom has introduced the Character Creator and Benchmark Mode, letting players design their Arrakis-bound persona and check if their PC can handle the game’s demands.
The Character Creator allows full customization of appearance, along with choices for home planet, caste, and mentor or class. These creations will transfer to the full game at launch. Early creators will also unlock an exclusive Frameblade knife skin, claimable at release with a code.

The Benchmark Mode evaluates PC performance, fine-tuning graphics settings for optimal play. It guides players through a desert base, the lively Harkonnen hub of Harko Village, and a thrilling encounter with a colossal sandworm.
Priced at USD 49.99, the game will soon be available for pre-order on Steam. Pre-orders include a unique in-game decoration, the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, featuring the iconic desert kangaroo mouse.
Dune: Awakening Unveils an Alternate Universe

Drawing from Frank Herbert’s Dune novels and inspired by film adaptations, Dune: Awakening is an open-world multiplayer survival game set in a richly detailed universe. Players begin as prisoners tasked with unraveling the mystery of the Fremen’s vanishing. The cinematic narrative follows your rise from obscurity to a key figure in either the Atreides or Harkonnen faction.
The ever-changing desert of Arrakis forms the game’s vast open world, inviting endless exploration. New locations, challenges, and rewards emerge weekly, spurring players to race for discoveries. On Arrakis, you can construct bases, fight, explore uncharted lands, and connect with its inhabitants. Carve your legacy and climb the ranks!
