The much-anticipated Amazon adaptation of the video game "God of War" is already set for a two-season run, even before its premiere. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who stepped in after the exit of Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights into his new project during an interview with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from "Battlestar Galactica."

"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a gamer, Moore confessed to enjoying classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," he remarked.

For the "God of War" series, Moore has taken on multiple roles, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner. With a notable background in shows like "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Deep Space Nine," as well as being the showrunner for the 2000s "Battlestar Galactica," Moore brings a wealth of experience to the project.

While some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. Though specifics about the series are sparse, it's confirmed to be based on the 2018 "God of War" game.

Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations, such as the "Fallout" TV show and "Secret Level," following successful launches, suggest a promising outlook for the "God of War" series in the streaming landscape.
