Alterworlds invites players on a poignant journey across the galaxy in search of a lost love. While the narrative might echo familiar themes, it's the game's distinctive gameplay and aesthetic that truly set it apart. The game's low-poly, cel-shaded visuals draw inspiration from renowned artists like Moebius, creating a retro yet visually appealing experience.
The gameplay, viewed from a top-down perspective, cleverly masks the depth of its puzzle mechanics. Players can leap between planets, shoot obstacles, and manipulate objects by dragging and dropping them. Each planet, from rocky moons to lush, dinosaur-inhabited paradises, offers a unique set of challenges and environments to explore.
The only minor critique I have is the somewhat clunky narration during the tutorial. However, this small flaw doesn't detract from the overall appeal of Alterworlds. I'm eager to see how Idealplay further develops this title, especially as it transitions to mobile platforms.
