*As if* they could resist reuniting Alicia Silverstone with yellow plaid. The legendary actress is reportedly returning to her starring role as Cher Horowitz in a Clueless sequel series for Peacock.
A Modern Take on a '90s Classic
According to Variety, the series is in early development, though plot specifics remain under wraps. Confirmed details include Silverstone's return, the continuation of the original 1995 film's storyline, and the creative team involved. This new project differs from Peacock's previously planned Clueless spinoff in 2020.
The Dream Team Behind the Revival
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl creator and reboot executive producer) will co-write alongside Jordan Weiss. The trio will executive produce along with Amy Heckerling (original Clueless writer-director) and Robert Lawrence (the film's original producer). Production will be handled by CBS Studios and Universal Television.
Not the First Small Screen Adaptation
This isn't Clueless' first television iteration. Following the film's success, a '90s TV adaptation starring Rachel Blanchard aired on ABC/UPN from 1996-1999. Silverstone recently revived Cher for a 2023 Super Bowl commercial, proving she's clearly eager to step back into those iconic designer shoes – and frankly, we're here for it.
