Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana – How to Beat Dularn

Conquering Dularn in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana presents players with numerous boss encounters, the first being Dularn, the Creeping Shadow. This initial boss fight often proves a significant challenge, requiring multiple attempts for many players. However, understanding Dularn's attack patterns makes this battle significantly easier.

Defeating Dularn: A Strategic Approach

The fight begins with Dularn encased in a spherical barrier, rendering him invulnerable. Survival is key until the barrier dissipates, allowing for a window of attack. Dularn's health varies depending on the chosen difficulty. While backtracking is possible, defeating Dularn is mandatory for game progression.

Avoid contact with Dularn while his barrier is active; touching him inflicts damage. Attempting to attack during this phase will likely result in defeat.

Dularn's Sword Attacks: Patterns and Countermeasures

Dularn employs various sword attacks:

  • Overhead Assault: Swords descend from above, striking directly at the player.
  • X-Formation: Swords form an X, then home in on the player.
  • Linear Thrust: A straight line of swords advances towards the player.

To counter these, utilize a combination of wide circling and jumping. Wide circles evade the first two attacks effectively, while jumping is crucial for avoiding the linear thrust and any stray swords.

When the barrier drops, unleash a flurry of attacks. Dularn teleports after taking significant damage. Maintain distance upon his reappearance, as he'll re-establish his barrier.

Dularn's Wave Attacks: Fireballs and Arching Slash

Dularn utilizes two projectile attacks:

  • Fireballs: A volley of fireballs requires strategic movement; weave between them or jump over individual projectiles.
  • Arching Slash: A large blue slash necessitates a precise jump to avoid it entirely.

These attacks often precede vulnerability windows, serving as signals to attack Dularn.

Mastering these patterns is key; grinding levels isn't necessary for victory.

Rewards for Victory: The Ignis Bracelet

Defeating Dularn grants access to the Ignis Bracelet, a magical bracelet enabling fireball attacks, becoming a valuable asset throughout the game.
