New TD Game Sphere Defense Draws Inspiration from geoDefense

Sphere Defense, the latest tower defense game on Android by Tomnoki Studio, pays homage to the classic geoDefense by David Whatley, a game that inspired its developer. Growing up with geoDefense, the developer was captivated by its elegant simplicity and challenging gameplay, which Sphere Defense aims to replicate and expand upon.

What’s the Premise?

In Sphere Defense, the Earth, or 'The Sphere,' faces imminent destruction from invaders. Humanity, forced underground, has been developing new technologies to combat the threat. After enduring years of oppression, the survivors have finally amassed enough firepower to mount a counterattack. You take on the role of leading this crucial defense to save the planet.

The gameplay follows the classic tower defense formula. You strategically place units, each with unique strengths, to fend off waves of enemies. As you accumulate kills, you earn resources to expand or upgrade your arsenal, with higher difficulties demanding more strategic planning.

The game offers three difficulty levels: easy, normal, and hard, each comprising 10 stages. Each stage lasts between 5 to 15 minutes, providing a varied and engaging experience. For a sneak peek at the action, check out the game trailer below!

Set Up Turrets to Mow Your Enemies Down

Sphere Defense features seven types of units, which you'll need to strategically mix and match to survive. The attack units include the Standard Attack Turret for single-target eliminations, the Area Attack Turret for dealing with groups of enemies, and the Piercing Attack Turret for penetrating through enemy lines.

Support units enhance your defense, such as the Cooling Turret and the Incendiary Turret, which boost the effectiveness of your attack units. Additionally, there are support attack units like the Fixed-Point Attack Unit for targeted missile strikes and the Linear Attack Unit for deploying satellite laser attacks.
