Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has tempered expectations for the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't even begun recording his lines, confirming that production hasn't commenced. He stated that several aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news isn't entirely surprising, considering the five-year gap between the first and second installments.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the film's production status. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively minor, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the main timeline, resulting in a different outcome. Without the spider-bite, Miles didn't become Spider-Man. Following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, and he ultimately joined their ranks.
The narrative's resolution, and the conflict between this villainous Miles and the main Spider-Man, will be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will need to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, or potentially even 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of its predecessor.
