Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

The Sims creator Will Wright recently took to Twitch to share exciting updates about his new AI life simulation game, Proxi, developed by Gallium Studio. Proxi promises an immersive experience centered around personal memories, offering players a unique way to relive and interact with their past. Let's dive into what Will Wright revealed during his appearance on the BreakthroughT1D Twitch channel.

Proxi: A Game of Interactive Memories

Featuring a More Personal Experience

Since its initial announcement in 2018, Proxi has been shrouded in mystery. However, last month, Gallium Studio released a "not-a-trailer-trailer" that sparked renewed interest. Now, with continuous development in full swing, Will Wright appeared on a livestream hosted by BreakthroughT1D, the leading global organization dedicated to funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Through their Twitch channel, they collaborate with the gaming community to raise funds and awareness for T1D. Their Dev Diaries series features interviews with game developers, discussing their connection to T1D and their experiences in game development, often while playing their own games or games they enjoy. The latest episode featured Will Wright, renowned for creating The Sims and SimCity.

During the interview, Wright delved into Proxi's core concept. Proxi is an "AI life sim built from your memories," where players can input their real-life memories in paragraph form. The game then transforms these memories into animated scenes that can be customized using the game's assets to better reflect the original memory. Each new memory, or "mem," added to the game helps train the game's AI, integrating the memory into the player's "mind world"—a 3D environment composed of hexagons that players can explore and interact with.

As players add more memories, their mind world grows and becomes populated with "Proxies" representing friends and family. These memories can be arranged on a timeline and linked to different Proxies, illustrating who was involved and what was happening at the time. Additionally, Proxies can be exported to other game worlds, such as Minecraft and Roblox, enhancing the interactive experience.

The goal of Proxi is to create "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." Wright emphasized his desire to offer a more personal gaming experience, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player. Kind of a saying I've lived by, which is that no game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." He humorously added, "It goes to figure that the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with upcoming platform announcements eagerly anticipated by fans.

By focusing on personal memories and offering a deeply interactive experience, Proxi aims to redefine what a life simulation game can be. Keep an eye on Gallium Studio for more updates on this innovative project.
