Short Circuit Studio has just announced an exciting new update for their recently launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update introduces a darker, more thrilling atmosphere to the charming pixel-art adventure.
Despite being newly launched, TownsFolk is not holding back on adding depth to its gameplay. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a host of new mechanics and features that enhance the overall experience. One of the most gripping additions is the roaming Barbarians, which will inject tension into both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Players will need to be on their guard as these new adversaries roam the land.
In addition to the Barbarians, the update introduces eight new structures that will diversify your town-building strategy. These include the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer. Each building offers unique benefits and challenges, allowing for more complex and engaging gameplay.
Water tiles are also getting an exciting update with the introduction of the rare Whale. This new addition will add a fascinating element to the waters around your settlement. Moreover, the update includes new Special Locations like the ancient Obelisks and Shipwrecks, which will add an element of unpredictability and exploration to the game.
To help you keep track of all these new elements, the update also features a handy Compendium. This in-game encyclopedia will serve as a valuable resource for understanding the new mechanics and features. The Exploration System has been reworked, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, allowing for a more personalized gaming experience.
