Palworld Remains Buy-to-Play; F2P and GaaS Models Rejected
Following reports of discussions regarding a potential shift to a Free-to-Play (F2P) or Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) model, Palworld developer Pocketpair has officially confirmed that the game will remain a buy-to-play title.
In a recent statement on Twitter (X), the team explicitly stated that they are not altering the game's business model. This decision comes after an interview with ASCII Japan revealed internal deliberations about the game's future direction. While Pocketpair acknowledged exploring various options for long-term growth, they ultimately concluded that F2P/GaaS is not the right fit for Palworld.

The developer emphasized their commitment to prioritizing player preferences, stating that Palworld's design doesn't align with a F2P/GaaS model and adapting it would be excessively challenging. They apologized for any concerns caused by earlier reports and reaffirmed their dedication to delivering the best possible Palworld experience.
Future Development: DLC and Skins Under Consideration
Pocketpair clarified that the interview with ASCII Japan took place several months ago. While the CEO, Takuro Mizobe, previously hinted at future content updates including new Pals and raid bosses, the studio now confirms they are exploring the possibility of adding skins and DLC to support ongoing development. Further details on this will be shared at a later date.
