Nintendo's Alarmo: Wider Release and Enhanced Features
Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is slated for a broader retail release in March 2025, as announced via their official Twitter (X) account. This expansion marks a significant step, making the device readily available to a wider audience.
Initially launched with limited availability and requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, Alarmo will now be accessible to all consumers at major retailers such as Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other authorized vendors. The $99.99 USD price point remains unchanged.
The high demand for Alarmo was evident following its October 9th, 2024 launch. In Japan, initial sales were suspended due to overwhelming orders, prompting a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Similar high demand led to sell-outs in locations like New York City.
Alarmo's popularity is fueled by its unique features. It incorporates sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo franchises including Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, offering 42 selectable scenes at launch, with more promised via free updates.
The alarm experience is interactive. A game character appears on the screen, and upon activation, a gentle sound plays. A "visitor" then arrives; users can quiet the alarm by waving or moving. Persistent slumber triggers a more insistent alarm. The motion sensor allows for silencing without touching the device. Additional features include hourly chimes, sleep sounds, and sleep pattern tracking. For households with multiple sleepers or pets, a "Button Mode" is recommended.
The removal of the Nintendo Online subscription requirement for purchase further enhances accessibility, making Alarmo a compelling option for Nintendo fans and those seeking a fun and engaging alarm clock experience.
