Assassin’s Creed Shadows Character Will Be Played by One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata

Mackenyu, the rising star who captivated audiences as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's "One Piece," is set to bring his talent to Ubisoft's much-anticipated RPG, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. He will voice the character Gennojo in both Japanese and English, adding depth to this Feudal-Japan themed video game.

Gennojo, as described by Ubisoft, is a key figure in the game, assisting the protagonist in tracking and eliminating a critical target. Ubisoft characterizes Gennojo as a "charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted figure, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system." He is portrayed as a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, navigating the world with a blend of wit, deceit, and swagger. Despite his rough exterior, Gennojo is motivated by a strong sense of justice, particularly in aiding the poor and elderly, and is willing to risk everything to achieve his goal of bringing down corruption.

While the exact point in the game where players will encounter Gennojo remains undisclosed, it is clear that he will play a significant role in the game's missions. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo is part of a group called the "Shinobi League," and players can "basically recruit" him as a companion throughout their journey in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
