In a significant update shared on their support page, Square Enix has confirmed that Foamstars, their vibrant 4v4 shooter, will be available to play for free starting October 4, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. UTC. This move eliminates the need for a PlayStation Plus subscription to enjoy the game, making it more accessible to a wider audience. Previously priced at $29.99 for both PS4 and PS5, Foamstars will now be free to download and play.

For those who have already invested in Foamstars before this transition, Square Enix is rolling out a special "Legacy Gift" to show appreciation. This exclusive in-game bundle will include:

  • 12 color-variant Bubble Beastie skins
  • 1 exclusive Slide Board design
  • 1 title: "Legacy"
