The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support and the impending closure of the game's servers. Despite an initial surge of interest, the project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain its player base due to insufficient player engagement and a noticeable absence of substantial updates.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the game's critically low player numbers were a significant factor. From late 2024 onwards, Dungeonborne saw a peak of just 200 concurrent players, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 active users.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, signaling the end of the game's journey. This marks a somber conclusion for a title that once held promise among fans of the genre but ultimately failed to reach its full potential.
