Dune: Awakening's sandworms: a force of nature, not a player's tool. Unlike in Frank Herbert's novels, players cannot summon sandworms at will. The game's sandworms are independent NPCs with programmed behaviors and patrol routes. While you can't summon them to attack enemies, actions like moving through the sand or using a thumper might attract their attention, but there's no guarantee.

The developers have confirmed that riding sandworms, a staple of Fremen culture in the books and films, is not a feature in the initial release. This decision was reportedly influenced by the Dune film franchise.
Future updates may include additional Fremen content, potentially including sandworm riding, but this is not currently confirmed.
Dune: Awakening launches on PC May 20th, with console releases to follow.
