A new Digimon video game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked via GameStop just ahead of tonight’s PlayStation State of Play presentation.
Gematsu spotted and shared listings for this mysterious project earlier today, providing store links that allow interested players to pre-order copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The GameStop pages currently lack images or gameplay details about the unannounced Digimon Story: Time Stranger, but official news might not be far off.
The leak comes just hours before Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. Although the specifics of the show remain under wraps, the timing of the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings suggests a potential reveal during the event.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that predates this potential new entry. Fans will recall Bandai Namco's spin-off series beginning with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, numerous installments have been released across various platforms, including 2015’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and 2017’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. A Complete Edition that bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles was released in 2019.
Previous games in the series have immersed players in the world of Digimon, allowing them to befriend and collaborate with monsters in RPG-style battles. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment. While games like Digimon Survive have helped bridge the gap, the anticipation for a true sequel like Digimon Story: Time Stranger could soon be satisfied if it is officially announced.
